Conduction-The flow of thermal energy through a substance from a higher- to a lower-temperature region.Heat conduction occurs by atomic or molecular interactions.Convection-Process by which heat is transferred by movement of a heated fluid such as air or water. Most fluids expand when heated. They become less dense and more buoyant, and so rise. The heated molecules eventually cool, become more dense, and sink. This repeated process sets up convection currents that account for the uniform heating of the air in a room or water in a kettle.
Radiation- Process by which energy is emitted from a source and propagated through the surrounding medium, or the energy involved in this process. Radiation consists of a flow of atomic or subatomic particles or of waves. Familiar examples are light (a form of electromagnetic radiation) and sound (a form of acoustic radiation). Both electromagnetic and acoustic radiation can be described as waves with a range of frequencies and intensities.
When Vacuum flask is used Radiation, Convection and Conduction is reduced. The reason is because
Conduction-vacuum inside the flask prevents conduction from taking place and plastic cup reduced conduction.
Convection- Prevents convection plastic cup stops the heated air from escaping with thermal energy.
Radiation-Silvered surface as they are poor emitter of heat.
Transmission of thermal energy by conduction.
